Summer 2021: Three trends. Three collections.
The terrace, the garden, the porch and the patio are the "new living room". With the help of French designer Christophe Pillet, POINT unveils the three key details that will make it the home's outstanding feature this summer.

"My aim with this collection was to make it as desirable, as detailed in design and as well-finished as a piece of interior furniture", Pillet (Montargis, France, 1959) says of the Long Island collection he created for POINT.

Experts say that it will be one of this summer's hot trends: outdoor furniture so well designed that it could be used indoors. Linear shapes and slim lines characterise this modular collection of outdoor sofas, whose aesthetic means they would fit perfectly in a living room. The collection consists of eleven pieces, complemented by three aluminium and porcelain tables.

The triumph of craftsmanship is another of the trends that will characterise exteriors this year. With the Summer collection, Pillet sought to redefine the traditional chair, while remaining faithful to the tradition of craftsmanship that has led to POINT becoming a benchmark company in the field. "The decorative effect is here created by the texture of the weave. There is thus something very crafted (handmade), with a very strong and very simple design. It's a way for POINT to reconnect with its roots," the Frenchman says. Made from aluminium combined with rope and available in several different colours, the collection consists of a chair and an armchair for the dining room.

"Recapturing the Mediterranean art of living" was Pillet's intention with the City collection. The general desire to take life outdoors corresponds to the idea he had right from the very first sketches he produced. Its main feature is a powder-coated aluminium frame with teakwood armrests and comfortable, soft cushions. "With this collection, I am attempting to describe, in a contemporary manner, a universe where the sun and the earth come together." The three pieces in the collection - an armchair, a double sofa and a triple sofa - exude classicism and elegance, and the cushions can be customised as regards both pattern and colour.

Chtistophe Pillet is one of today's most influential creators. His pieces feature in the collections of the Centre Pompidou, the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (in Paris) and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum (in New York). These three collections were created as part of his first collaboration with POINT.
