NECK
Studio Meneghello Paolelli
Sculptural art, functional design
In collaboration with the award-winning Milanese studio Meneghello Paolelli, we present two sculptural table legs called Neck. “Our starting point was the bistro table, which has clearly defined ergonomic limits. The challenge was to find a distinctive detail within these parameters”, say Sandro and Marco. Neck is a versatile, neutral collection designed for any space, especially contract and outdoor contexts. “These had
to be pieces with standard sizes that offered flexibility of use. Neck’s personality lies in its base, which gives the piece a distinctive touch, but in a discreet and subtle way, as it is very compact with a perfectly studied diameterfrom an ergonomic and visual point of view”.
Three different materials interact in its design: the base is made from concrete, the body from powder-painted aluminum and the surface can be teak, HPL or porcelain. “Its most innovative feature is the point where the aluminum and concrete meet halfway up the leg, creating a discontinuity of textures within a formal sequence, from a smooth, colored surface to a porous, rough one”, they explain. Both legs can be customized in terms of color -with a choice of mineral white or anthracite gray -and surface shape- round or square.
MENEGHELLO PAOLELLI
Since its foundation in 2006, the milanese Studio Meneghello Paolelli has continued to collect the most prestigious international design awards: 13 Red Dot Design Awards, including one “Best Of The Best”; seven Design Plus; three Good Design Awards; eight Adi Design Index; four special mentions at the German Design Awards; and three IF Design Awards. The founders, Sandro Meneghello and Marco Paolelli (Milan ‘79), met during their studies at politecnico of Milan. They started their careers as product designers and are now strategic consultants who, as they say, use “design as a solution”.
